Liam is Twelve!

Tuesday, November 8, 2011

Child of wonder Child of light

Child of freckled beauty bright

Ever growing never slowing

Crack us up with comic might

You don’t seem twelve.
You’re much more eight

A mother’s wish To recreate
The little boy she loves so much
And keep him near to see and touch

But boys grow up. Too soon they’re tall
It’s hard for Moms to grasp, that’s all.

You’re still you. You’re still in there
Towhead babe or young man fair

We’re proud of you, all you’ve become

You have yet to add the sum
Of baby, toddler, boy and man
The math is hard; we know you can.

 Happy birthday, Liam dear
You’ve come so far! Another year
To thrive and grow and light our lives
With grace and wit and sayings sly.

My boy likes pie.

Happy Birthday, Liam. You may roll your eyes and kick the dirt at your mom's abundance of adoration, but let her have her joy. You are one of her finest works and you've sculpted her as much as she's molded you. That's what sons do.

Happy birthday to Liam--may his heart stay ever young, even as he marches into teen years, then adulthood.
And, never stop soaking up that irreplaceable mother's love.

what a wonderful, wonderful mother-love post!!

In my family-culture, turning 12 is really a coming-of-age moment for a young man. It comes with increased responsibilities and privileges. As a Scoutmaster of 12 and 13 year old boys, I can vouch that this is one of the best and most impressionable ages in a young man's life. Having parents like you and Bill is the best blessing of all.

Happy Birthday Master Liam! May the mighty spirit of the Bison watch over you for another joy-filled year!!

Such a lovely tribute to your son. I'm all teary-eyed.

It's so beautiful(and rare from my viewpoint as a teacher) to see parents that can so enjoy and respect their children. You will have no regrets when they are grown.

Happy happy birthday to your sweet Liam. He's a lucky boy growing up surrounded by so much love.

There are certain things that make me feel old(er).
My boy is getting married next July.
Number 2 son has a serious girlfriend.
My nephew is 45. When he was a baby and I was 19, he peed on me and I dropped him. I think that was when his volume button got permanently stuck on "very loud".

And now Liam, the great young kid who loved trains and dinosaurs is 12.
Did I really need glasses for that blurred vision or was that just time racing by?

How old is mom feeling?

Happy Birthday Liam.

Happy Birthday Liam. I hope you never lose your sense of wonder...You are so blessed to have two wonderful parents and a big sis to keep you safe.

Happy Happy...from Atlanta...

*sniff*. As the mother of two boys (who are now young men), I ache to have a young one in the house full of curiosity and dirt and bugs and roars of laughter (both creating and causing).

Happiest of Happy Days, Liam.

The apple falls not far from the trees. Happy Birthday!

You are head-over-heals in love with your little man. Your words and photos are beaming. Love love love!!!

Happy Birthday Liam ~ The best years are to come. Go forward with great gusto but never forget, no matter how old you are, to give your momma a hug and kiss each morning when you rise and each night when you set.

Hi Julie! I absolutely love reading your blog! I hope you don't mind me asking, but I'm in a little of a dilemma situation - How'd you manage to create that beautiful blogskin? (Couldn't find anything on google) :(

Hi Elizabeth,

Would that I could do this myself! The blog template you're admiring was custom created by my beautiful writer/painter/html whiz WebWitch, who, as you might have anticipated, is oversubscribed and not taking on clients at the moment. Rest assured that the minute she starts looking for outside work, I will perform a Big Reveal.
Thanks to everyone for their sweet wishes for Liam. He had a BLAST even though we didn't get to chunk the six punkins off the towertop. Too dark.

12 is the most magical boy age E-V-E-R.

Happy birthday Liam!

Happy birthday, Liam!

Happy Birthday Liam!

What a beautiful MOTHER'S tribute to Liam, a beautiful boy........ and 12 already! He's been such an important part of your life and of Bills'. But a Mother's love is evident and her hugs are important. My daughter's son, Grant, turns 12 in December and he is still very huggable, it means alot if they don't rush to grow up.
